UPDATED: Sssshhhhh! U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Arizona Rep. Sinema; One of Five Democrats In Nation

(UPDATED, 5:35pm: Rep. Sinema's campaign issued a news release announcing and accepting the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's endorsement late this afternoon.  It includes this quote from the Congresswoman:  "Arizona families depend on good jobs to make ends meet. I promised in 2012 to work with anyone to create opportunities and good jobs in our district.  I am honored to receive this endorsement and will continue to work with the business community to ensure every Arizona family gets ahead.”)

Very quietly, in the last couple of days, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorsed four Democrats.  Today, it added Arizona Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-CD9).  Sinema is only the 5th Democrat to receive a nod from the major business lobbying organization.

No Chamber press release trumpeted the endorsement, and it is unlikely the Chamber of Commerce will spend any money supporting Sinema as she campaigns for re-election against Wendy Rogers, the GOP nominee.

Arizona's Politics leaarned of the endorsement when it was reviewing the new independent expenditures by the Chamber on behalf of Martha McSally in CD2.

The U.S. CoC's scorecard gives Sinema a higher base rating than two of the four Republicans in Arizona's Congressional delegation.

The other four Democrats endorsed by the Chamber are Reps. Scott Peters (CA), John Barrow (GA), Henry Cuellar (TX) and Jim Costa (CA).

Considering how many times she voted with the Republican majority against the interests of Americans, it comes as no huge surprise that the American Chamber of Commerce would endorse Congresswoman Sinema. Even if she is supposedly a Democrat.

Thanks for commenting, PJ! I'll try to look up and post the list of votes that the Chamber "scored."

No matter whether I agree or disagree with any of our Representatives, though, I have a hard time saying that they vote "against the interest of Americans".
